Stavropoleos Church
Nestled between nineteenth- and twentieth-century buildings in the Lipscani district of old Bucharest is Stavropoleos Church, erected in 1724 by Greek Archimandrite Ioanichie.

Stavropoleos Church is one of the oldest churches in Bucharest. It has a splendidly carved porch in Brancovan syle and an equally impressive carved wooden door. The church has been restored at the beginning of the twentieth century by architect Ion Mincu. Its murals and iconostasis have been last restored between 1996 and 2002.
