The castle is being restored with the help of the Ministry of Culture and Religion, and several Romanian, Hungarian and British organizations, including the Prince of Wales Foundation.

Since 2001, the castle has been hosting a Monument Restauration Training Centre, under the direction of the Transylvania Trust Foundation and partners. Read more on the Web site of IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation).

The Bánffy Castle in Bontida is located some 30 km from Cluj.
